Hello dear visitor,
I made victordelamarre.com to tell people about the fact that there are other strongmen aside from Louis Cyr that left their mark in our history. At fifteen, I was given a book by my mother, it was entitled: Le roi de l’haltère (which could be translated as The weightlifting king). The book was written by Father Elzéar Delamarre, Victor’s uncle. I read avidly and with great pleasure and surprise; the more I read, the more I became curious. I then decided to investigate on the veracity of the book and worked hard to trace back most of Victor’s life. I quickly grasped the truth of his story.
During my trip to Lac-Bouchette, I met with many people who remembered him, visited his house and saw the phenomenal rock he had rotated by ninety degrees. I encountered several other objects imbued with Delamarre’s strength: metal rods, padlocks, sculptures, money, etc. This trip also made me discover the level of spirituality he lived in, another of his strengths. I was lucky to complete a military course with one of Victor’s nephews; he was in a remarkably great shape.
That was 8 years ago; I was a teenager who wanted to pay tribute to Delamarre. I created a very simple website with the technology available at the time. To my great surprise, it reached out to many people, it spread so much that I received a call from local Quebec TV channel Télé-Québec. Today, with my experience and academic training in IT, I’m back with a more complete version of victordelamarre.com, but this is only the beginning. I will develop it more thoroughly when I’ll be done with my next and second project: TellThem.net.
With these final words, I wish you a great visit at victordelamarre.com. Please remember that you can leave any comment or suggestion, they will all be taken into consideration.
